Hardware requirements

Option 1 (Local installation):Desktop PC or Solaris workstation; recommended are 256Mb RAM as a minimum.
Option 2 (Remote access):Any typical state-of-the-art Desktop/Laptop PC with internet access.

Network requirements

Option 1 (Local installation):Network access for down/upload of ontologies from/to other (client) tools. Communicationtakes place over HTTP (port 80) so any firewalls need to be configured to letsuch traffic through.
Option 2 (Remote access):Internet access for accessing the host through HTTP.

Software requirements

Option 1 (Local installation):
  • Operating System: platform independent
  • Sun J2SE v1.3 or higher. (Note: not just a JRE, we need the fullkit for JSP compilation).
  • Apache Tomcat v4.0.x.
  • RDBMS, either: a) PostgreSQL v7.2 + JDBC driver; b) MySQL v3.41 or higher+ JDBC driver
  • Tool for (un)compressing ZIP archives (e.g. WinZip).
  • WWWBrowser (preferably Mozilla 1.0 or higher, Netscape 6 or higheror Internet Explorer 5 or higher)
Option 2 (Remote access):
  • Java-enabled WWW Browser (preferably Mozilla 1.0 or higher, Netscape 6 orhigher or Internet Explorer 5 or higher)
  • Optional: SSH client (e.g. PuTTY).

Other requirements

None.

Installation time

Minimal.

Sesame is middleware, therefore required for all the On-To-Knowledgeclient tools.
